(Letter from a Child)
Dear Sockleby,
Today I brought you a red apple but I already bit it. Sorry. I gave you the good side though, and you didn’t say anything so I think you’re okay with it.
Mum said you’re “only for show” but I don’t believe that. I saw your socks moving once when I blinked slowly. They were shuffling around like nervous caterpillars. One of them waved.
If you want to come visit, I have a windowsill you’d fit on. I’ll move Bunby so you can sit. Bunby’s a bit bossy anyway and might be happier on the radiator. (Don’t tell.)
Also, do you know what the yellow loops on your tummy mean? I traced them five times but couldn’t find the end. Maybe they’re a path. Or maybe they’re a song.
